Let’s be honest – do you truly allow yourself to rest? Many of us still view rest as an unnecessary or unattainable luxury, while the constant pressure to perform – at work and at home – leaves us feeling drained, frustrated, and at times even heading toward burnout. Is it possible to improve the quality of our daily lives without being weighed down by guilt or a sense of failure? These questions were at the heart of a practical and interactive workshop filled with insights and sharing of personal experience, led by our CEO Miriam Lacho in collaboration with coach Petra Holic in Bratislava. The active participation, lively discussions, and the energy in the room once again showed that this topic resonates with nearly all of us. The event was supported by Human Dynamic Europe and organized by AmCham Slovakia.
“What will life look like when we get out? Who will support our mental health? What mental health challenges do people outside deal with? How do I reach out to my now adult son, who has never seen me? Do I even have the right to do that?” These were some of the questions raised in a room full of men preparing to return to everyday life after spending decades in a U.S. prison. A workshop led by our CEO, Miriam Lacho, was met with strong interest and opened thoughtful, yet difficult, conversations. Miriam shared her years of experience at the invitation of her daughter Leila, a psychology and criminology student who volunteers in the correctional facility. Her aim is to help individuals serving life sentences begin again – and do so in a better way: to process their past and prepare for life beyond prison. If there is one thing that years of practice have shown us, it is this: punishment alone is not enough. A safer society is built when we are willing to offer support, provide professional guidance, and create systems that make it easier – not harder – to stay on the right path. Working with emotions is not an added bonus – it is the foundation.
In our professional practice, we often listen to and address what has gone wrong in life – what feels difficult and brings sadness or anger. At the same time, this work gives us a unique insight into human resilience, the courage to grow, to work on oneself, and to push through toward more fulfilling chapters of life. As we enter the new year, we wish you that even in challenging moments, you continue to trust your inner strength. Let us be kind to ourselves and to others, notice the good within us, and remember that asking for help is not a failure, but a step forward.
Human Dynamic Europe feels strongly about corporate social responsibility (CSR), thus supports various centers, nonprofit organizations and projects connected with mental health, either directly or indirectly. Usually, these projects benefit people who otherwise would not be able to afford this care, or we provide them with something special to enjoy. It is the smile and joy in their eyes that are the greatest reward for us.
